Last outing

Re: Last outing NOT

How did a tale of your last outing get so many posts ? Lot of rambling I suspect. Anyway dont wrap her up yet some of the best cruising is during high pressure frosty winter mornings, no wind, flat seas. Just don the thermals plus wooly hat plus gloves and your away. Mind you I have got an inner helm, heater, lectic kettle, lectric blanket net curtains an all, if it gets too cold outside.

Re: held a watching brief there for a bit...

I'll be staying on the land as well, stopping on the boat in mid winter, bother that.

Re: held a watching brief there for a bit...

The Quay Thistle is a 4 star, so reckon on around 70 quid a night. Last time I tried to book close to xmas it was all booked up with corperate do's. Theres quiet a few B&B's round by Baiter park. The bulk of the cheaper hotels are on the road that runs along the top of the park. Still within staggering distance, just!
As long as the haven has leccy on the pontoons then I'll plug in the heater and stay on the boat. Stayed on it the other night, but it was on the trailer and quiet mild. Wasn't too bad.
Is it just the drinky thing like last time, or if we have enough boats, a bit of a mini cruise to the Red Lion in Swanage or a bit of a quick dash to the bankes then back to poole proper?

Just a thought, don't corkers do B&B also the Antelope in the old high street. They've got to be reasonable on price.
So how many have we actually got going, I make it roughly nine by quick rekoning, the same number as last time!! So where did the other 15 or 16 come from. Looking forward to it already. B1 is making the right noises so that could only be promising.

Agenda

should be a good opportunity to fit in a little more of the boating this time round - weather dependant of course!
Swanage would be an excellent run if the weather provides smooth conditions - then back to the marina / Poole quay late afternoon/evening/night.
Also holds the prospect of a nice blast on the Sunday morning for those (if any?) that have run out of asprin!
flexible but clear agenda - that's what we need

ps anyone inviting Kim?

Re: Agenda

Thats a point, he could nick the company boat for the weekend. Its his forum that kicked it off after all!

Re: Theme Tune for Wareham (Landing Craft Flotilla)

Pretty good, all we now is someone to record it.

Re: Theme Tune for Wareham (Landing Craft Flotilla)

OOh,, I'd have thought a few pints, G&Ts and a few bottles of Vino and you can all do a Xmas release as the massed mixed MoBo choir !!!

Re: Agenda

Good idea. No trip boats out of Swanage these days so Stone Quay is not used, good for tying up to, saves messing around with dinghies to get ashore.

Must read through this thread again, figure out who might come, by land and sea. I guess we must sort out another eating place for the evening, NOT Oyster Quay!

So,
Sat.
11:00am Arrive Poole Quay, meet up with land lubbers.
11:30 depart Swanage
12:00 -> 12:15 Arrive Swanage
12:30 Beer and eats somewhere in Swanage
15:30 Depart Swanage
16:00 -> Arrive back Poole, m..m..more beer and whatever (I'll not be able to keep up)
20:00 Eat somewhere.
Sun
06:00 assemble Poole Quay (only joking!)
09:30 Breakfast at the Old Corn Store, High Street.

Re: Agenda

you got it about right..few option calls like depart for Swanage or dive into the Lord Nelson.......
Definitely need a couple of larger boats in Dolphin haven with sufficent room to party and with heaters........should be a perfect trip from the Solent for a couple of boats.
Come on Kim; just where is the company boat at the moment? All you need is a sober photographer and you will have piles of column inches for 2003; including excellent industry initiatives such as 'a boat can be for 12 months a year', 'you don't need sunshine to enjoy yourself if you have a boat' and of course (boatone's favorite apparantly ' size isn't everything'......

Re: Agenda

Been through the whole bl**dy thread again, I reckon the following have expressed an interest.

By Sea

BarryH
Duncan
Bendans
Col
John_Bailey

By Land

Forbsie
H00

Have I foregotten anyone, anymore takers, any drop outs?

Re: Agenda

<All you need is a sober photographer and >

So that's that idea right out of the window then. Where do you think IPC'd get one of those from?

Re: Agenda

sallrite a non sober, spelt 'papa india sierra sierra echo delta', photographer takes better pictures

Old Chinese proverb 'Man who sail boat into rice field, soon get into paddy'

Re: Agenda

So we've got seven'ish boats. Not that many peeps coming by road/land. I'm bymyself, no family she let me out to play by myself, so there should be enough room to get everyone on the water. Brilliant, the mini cruise sounds excellent, until you mentioned the lord nelson. Mind you, it could mean a bit of a winter warmer before the off!

Agree with the others. You've got a forum cruise club ready made! Loads of column inches, well some anyway. Its your forum that started it and I've never seen a piccy with a forum chat flag flying anywhere on it!!

Re: Agenda

All set then. I've booked mee self into the Travel Inn, on the night of 14th December, so on boat sleeping heroics for me.

Lets hope for some nice clear, calm, maybe a bit frosty, weather.

Old Chinese proverb 'Man who sail boat into rice field, soon get into paddy'

heroics?????

I will have a choice of onboard or return to rockley - being a prudent boater I will of course make the appropriate decision based on factors at the time............
pa I may well be on my own (I will be if SHMBO gets even the slightest hint that I am meeting up with you lot again......) so will probably be able to offer a few places to people if we run over to Swanage.

Re: Agenda

Can't tell if coming by boat or not yet. Boat is now in yard waiting to havehull crack repaired. Engine out job!

Could be shake down cruise that weekend, which will mean I'm coming from Northney Marina..which means my car will be there, and boat has to go back to Lymington. See some logistics problems there <g>

So, to cut a long story short, may come by car

Re: heroics?????

No fair, my caravan is all closed up by the end of october. I might have a look at the Antelope in the old high street, all the best hotels have a bar downstairs! BTW whar does the Travel Inn charge, but isn't it on the Holes Bat Relief Road, quiet a hike from the Quay, well it is after a "little" drink.

Re: heroics?????

taxis are not going to be that busy are they?
if the rest of the family desert I will have a spare room in the van - hell we could even take pity on Byron and cook him dinner looking at the other thread!
