I bet that's the one for a UK domestic element, readily available.

There isn't such a thing easily obtained for the smaller element in most marine heaters.

I got the local metal basher to make one up.

Surprising the amount of force needed to undo one in a hard water area.

Yep - but probably cheaper and readily available in the UK.
Mine cost nothing to make, the tools were old and cheap and surplus to requirements. And by making it myself I was able to use it the same day. And I still carry it aboard and (by chance) it provides double utility by being the perfect tool to remove the lid of the black tank (which can sometimes be a real pain to open without it) a job which, unfortunately, I need to do more and more frequently?

Losing the plastic filter cap to our Aeropress coffee maker was obviously a severe emergency.

It took several hours to make this aluminium end cap. This for a part that cost around £1, but in a remote place where delivery is unavailable a DIY solution was needed.image.jpeg

I once stuffed a pencil in the stern gland water service tube when it broke off the gland. As a rookie it gave me quite a cold sweat to open the engine hatch and see water rushing in.
