Unfortunately it is just not hands that have been lost through the use of boat pyrotechnics and wisely in my view questions are being asked about whether there are not better alternatives. As I said each to their own.

I don't dispute the need for questions, just trying to ensure the answers take account of the realities, and lasers are not as safe as some people assume.

PBO did a test circa 12 months ago, take a look at that. They were not wholly impressed.
They also found that a green laser was greatly more visible than a red laser, which adds to the argument that a laser flare might not be recognised as a distress signal, & a green laser even less so.
Much as I like the idea I will not go the Laser route unless or until there is proper information promulgated, to inform seafarers of what they may be seeing.
