As I was in the UK for a short time, I stocked up on a few things. Two little stories regarding kit that might be off your radar as they are made for kayakers:

I bought a 160 litre Elephant bag 24 years ago (it cost me £20 in 1989) for carrying things that don't fit in suitcases when I am flying. It has been around the world with me ever since and finally gave up the ghost. Trouble is they don't make them any more. I decided to buy a dry bag and have been looking for a large rugged one.

I've had a kayak for years and so was in Outdoor Active and asked about them..I bought a 150 litre dry bag (big enough for me to climb in). They also have rucksack straps and a handle at each side making them easy to carry...I just brought it home loaded on the plane no problems.

Another thing that we all struggle with is cold wet ropes, so I use these gloves that are also for kayakers (the photo isn't good, they look quite ladylike when they are on). They told me years ago that farmers were buying them to use, as these ones help you grip easily and the ones in farm shops are not windproof and rip easily

I have no connection with the shop or with the manufacturers Palm Equipment other than as a repeat customer. Not sure why they don't market them to boaties too.
