Just got this welcome email.

Dear Customer

MARINA NEWS AND 2017 RATES.

In 2016 we saw a big shift in the number of boat owners staying in Alcaidesa Marina and using our boat yard and fuelling facilities. The number of boat owners enjoying our really useful discounts for annual berth holders increased by a massive 25% and our winter and visiting boats hit an all time high.

So does all this mean that our annual berthing fees will be increasing in 2017? Well, we are delighted to inform you that there will NO INCREASE IN OUR ANNUAL MARINA FEES IN 2017. Value for money is at the heart of our thinking when it comes to setting the prices at Alcaidesa Marina and this means we have not increased our annual prices for 3 consecutive years, just adding to fantastic value we offer our customers. This is just one reason why we have many more annual customers and why more shorter term bertholders are deciding it makes sense to UPGRADE TO BECOME AN ANNUAL BERTH HOLDER and below are a few more reasons why:

Up to a 36% discount on our daily transit tariff
26% discount on our boatyard lifting & storage tariffs.
Discounts ranging from 10-15% offered by our workshop tenats & Chandlery.
Two hours of free parking per day. Special rates on the parking rates.
20% discount on Alcaidesa Links & Heathland green fees
50% off visitor berthing at other Transeurope member Marinas

For bertholders renewing their annual berthing contract in 2017 we continue to offer a FREE LIFT and a 20% discount on antifouling (subject to the renewal being confirmed 1 month prior to expiry of existing contract).

As from the 1st February our daily berthing and boat yard rates will increase by a very modest 3% and this only reflects inflation and increases in our staffing costs. Our berthing & boat yard rates are still competitive and by taking advantage of our discounts for longer stays (subject to advance payment) our rates can become highly competitive.

We are really looking forward to hearing from you shortly about securing your berth in 2017. It's going to be another great year at Alcaidesa Marina with lots of things planned and we will keep you fully informed as we move towards the start of the season.

A Spanish Marina with a business plan. Crikey. :) Wonder if this is due to competition from Gib marinas ?
Have you been advising Stu ? :)
Pity the likes of Ayamonte dont follow suit. Was there last week and less than half full.

I was there for three months at the end of the Summer and was really tempted to stay long term. It's well sheltered, brilliant service from the marina staff, really good value and the facilities were good.
Only downsides were a slight issue with security, local kids jumping into the marina and climbing onto the pontoons and shops/bars were a bit of a walk. Eventually the elastic band pulled me back to Lagos!

Am on pontoon 7, there since mid August. Talked to the long term guys on there. No issues with security. They say that nothing has ever been disturbed on their boats. I saw some kids jump in the marina off the road, their mam looked like a Roma, they swam towards pontoon 10, by the time they were there the marineros were there as well, they didn't even get out of the water before they were turned around. The security staff make regular patrols throughout the night as well. The only issues so far have been the 4 Brits caught unloading 750 k of hash in broad daylight, hardly a local security .

No doubt if they get there way and demolish all the houses & build as planned then it wont be long before they buoy the anchorage & start chargeing. Expected also when they build the new marina at Faro docks for which funds have now been agreed.
