We shall have to leave our boat in N. Spain or Portugal for approx. one month (July). Can anyone recommend a marina which is friendly, safe and within easy reach of main line rail travel?

Thanks.

Cynthia,

At last you are on your way by the sound of things.

I got the Portugeese Tourist board's guide book of marinas from their stand at the London Show. It has full details of all the marinas along their coast. Mick & Cathy, my next door neighbours wintered in Nazare and found it very good value and easily reached. They are now in south america.

Take a look at http://www.manorhouses.com/ports/map.htm

It also has links to other useful sites

Regards & good luck

Steve

Try putting this post on the Liveaboard Forum - advice may well be more forthcoming there.

This question has been raised before, worth searching back through postings.

We left our yacht for a while at Portosin Marina in Ria de Muros, on the west Spanish coast. Not that picturesque but well-run, modern and secure, with a bus connection to the airport at Santiago de Compostela (which I haven't tried).
