Kingswift update...

Even more impressive...

Fashioning Mahogany is very hard work! You are both brave and dedicated to get that type of result.

Looking forward to the Helm possition pics, are you going classic layout or modern and practical?

Cheers

Hi, Steve, what are you doing to the outside of the windows? Have you moved the head door? Did you insulate the timber from the hull? How much heavier is she going to be? Have the engines been fitted, if so any major probs? Just a few questions for now, final question, for this post, when will she be in the water to compare with mine?

Al,

here's a link to the pics...

had a bit of a bad day today... less said etc...

have a look, you'll see the plan with the sealed units, all in now... just finishing off the frames. i think it looks well with the heavier timber frames, sealed with oil based mastic (had a trial with it first over a period of a year... held up well)

head door was moved to inside as i'd discussed...replaces the bulkhead with marine ply, still need to make a door... the cheap pine one swelled and split the frame. so i'll make some ply panels and refit.. so ignore the "hole" in the pics.

the timber along the side is insulated with 1 1/2" poly insulation... 'cos that's where my bed is!

i don't estimate that she'll be much heavier, as there isn't much difference with the new engines as opposed to the old. decided to go with perkins prima turbo's in the end, rather than the heavier fords.

i wanted her back in the water for the end of march... but i need a good solid week to fit the engines and rewire/fuel lines etc... so watch this space!

cheers, steve
