Helgoland is a must go to stop on the way to Brunsbuttle. Apart from being an interesting island, the duty free purchases are the bargain of the century
The weather was just right for us to sail all the way so we didn’t stop till we reached the canal , we might do it on the way back , depending on the weather .

I did it last year coming the other way in a 72ft racer cruiser. It was a delivery trip so we went straight through in a day. Pleasant enough trip. Very easy

It’s about 90 km I believe, so certainly doable, as I have done several times, including both ways in our then Sadler 29. The trouble is that my attention span is that of a butterfly and I get fretty when I have to motor in a canal, pleasant though it can be. We enjoyed Rendsberg for a break. It’s a pleasant town for a bit of shopping and a cycle ride to the transporter bridge is worth doing.

We were in a big fast boat, pushing the speed. We didn't get out if the lock at Kiel until midday. We had 24 small boats in the lock with us. We were last out but passed them all over the course of the afternoon

We been on Aero for a few days exploring the island , free bus helped us to get around .
I even had my first swim today , unlike m as it's normally had to be 27c for me to get in .
Enjoying Denmark although it's expensive.

Canal is possible in a day especially now the days are long , but I do recommend people make a few stops on the way

Denmark seemed very expensive when we first went there in 1990. About the only meat we could afford was chunks of chicken. In later years we seemed to manage better. Some things, such as beer off-licence are manageable and moorings can be very reasonable, which helps a lot. I wouldn’t know about the swimming. I believe it involves getting wet.

That’s some bread , we pay around £1.50 £1.75 for a loaf.
I believe that you get what you pay for usually. I can get bread from the Coop or other supermarkets for much less but they don't taste of bread, are unsatisfying to eat, and I keep reading about what they put in it. Their fancy bread is a bit better but generally oversweet and not what a craft baker can make. For the amount we eat it is a luxury that I feel I can justify. I don't really remember Danish bread but German bread is generally good, as is Polish.

On the thread of South Denmark, has anyone recently passed the channel from the East, (Great Belt) North of Mon, South Zeeland, passing the bridge at Kalvehave. connecting into the Smalandsfarvandet The last information I heard from a Danish yacht was North of Mon was not not passable for a 2 meter draft, Anyone been North of Mon lately? Any reports of water depth?

I haven’t done it for a good many years but there are quite long stretches there, as when west of Falster, which are charted at 2.1 m. Barring changes in sea level, this depth is said to be accurate but clearly doesn’t leave enough margin for. 2m yacht. I can’t vouch for the depths because when we went through with 1.5m draft my sounder was mostly reading just over 1m due to the extensive weed. I heard that charter yachts are not allowed through these channels, though they are well buoyed with little Danish stick things.

I'm know that area pretty well.

2m is on the limit as depths vary a bit and the marked route through Bøgestrømmen in places is quire narrow. On the positive side the sea bed is sand and it is close to non tidal in the area. You'd need updated charts (markers are moved now and then to reflect the changing depths) a calm day and motoring.

I recommend Navionics/Garmin with Autorouting for the planning.
The common route for boats of your size is east and south of Møn (red line below) here:

When on the boat later I'll get you a proper screen pic of a bigger area

Your second route passes Stevn’s Klint which is an attractive chalk cliff formation. It is not as impressive perhaps as Mons Klint but I had a pleasant walk to it from Rodvig nearby. The cliff is notable for, I believe, being the first place that the iridium layer was found which confirmed the asteroid impact that probably caused the Cretaceous extinction. Mons Klint is also well worth stopping to see. We cycled from Klintholm on one occasion and the other time took a bus. There is a museum on the cliff and a satisfyingly long path down to the shore.

The route east of Møn is lovely. In an eastern wind waves can build over the baltics, but nothing too bad.

The south coast of Møn has he cosy marina Klintholm Havn, known for a nice calm atmosphere and a couple of eateries.
Not least the fish-oriented Restaurant Klintholm - just watch their opening hours (currently lunch 12-17) ;)

Comprehensive Lunch buffet £25 (-ish)

Remember deepl.com for translations if your browsing ends up in something Danish

Thanks for the discussion on this, and the chartlets. We have previously taken the route south of Mons past the chalk cliffs, stopping at Stubbekobing but then direct to Ystad. A safe enough route but if running to Copenhagen the route North of Mon would help hence the discussion.
