I agree with mirelle and go further and say "if it ain't broke dont fix it".
When I bought my SCOD, the surveyor wanted to see a keelbolt. The previous owner and I spent a day trying to get one out - and then called the experts. After a clean bill of health and the comment that it hadn't been out for twenty years our expert replaced it.
Though the boat leaked like a seive when she first went back into the water, the only keelbolt that seeped till the keel took up was the one we had disturbed.
I rest my case!
