I’ve read up on this already but not really seen a definitive recommendation on the actual product to use so appreciate any advice.
Before 2024 launch I scraped away the existing sealant in this joint as was showing signs of failing. No leakage into the boat so this appears to be just a cosmetic cover up. I used Sikaflex 291i. On retrieving last year the sikaflex appeared to be soft after a year immersed in fresh water (boat lives on a lake).
So I’ve removed it again and prepared both surfaces for a new product to be applied. But which will be best? Not sure why the sikaflex went like this as it was in date.
I know ideally I need to take the weight of the boat off the keel when doing this but that’s not really possible as there is no boat yard on our lake. Boat is on a trailer and I don’t fancy jacking the boat up in any way.
So my main question is which sealant would be best as I don’t fancy revisiting this job again! Thanks.
