karaagac is it permitted to enter. (The next bay round from Marmaris going east)

Yes, its a major base. you should also keep well out side the exclusion zone, I sailed along the edge of it and was met by a military helicopter - he wasn't happy.

There's an island in the bay, sail well to the seaward side of the island. We passed the base last week and saw a Turkish navy ship come out with helicopters on board, very impressive.

Back in the eighties we used to moor up in a small bay on the little island. The exclusion zone ran around the shore side of the island .

Pity they have to be so silly about it, the bay would be a fabulous addition to that coast. Its not as if a naval Base is top secret in this satellite/google earth age. (Not that it was previously really). Seems quite unnecessary.

Suspect its similar for most naval bases. Certainly some years ago we were told in no uncertain terms to leave the base at the Kyle of Lochalsh after we had entered inadvertently . It is a pity though as there is a superb sheltered beach which we have reached by road with a friend who lives locally and knows the tracks that are not guarded. The military here do have a tendency to want to be secretive . Any foreigner wanting to buy a house has to have its location checked by the military in case it is in a sensitive area and it has always been given to me as the reason why there are no decent detailed road maps of Turkey.
