Kalik 33

My brother in law has one, but he is not a forumite; he has neither a mobile nor a computer so is incredibly difficult to get hold of. If I make contact I'll post his comments.

Suggest before you get too excited you read Guapas account of replacing his teak deck. Then you might understand why the one in Plymouth is so well priced. Not suggesting that this boat is a dog, but it is 30 or 40 % less than a similar style of boat from a different builder.

Jac de Ridder design. Faster than a SS 34. Missed out on one for sale in Sydney a few years ago. It had a faulty teak deck too but I would still but one or it if it came up for sale again.

Anyone any experience of them?

Looks like a toy Swan? Too good to be true?

I assume this is the boat you're looking at.

The boat - a dream to sail - safe as houses. I love ours, but at that age, expect to spend money on restoration.
The asking price might reflect this.

Main point of concern - as mentioned before: the teak deck. Full story on the blog. Get full (documented) history ans specs.
I don't know enough about the 33 (different designer) to give a conclusive answer; but... if it's just teak on GRP you might get away with stripping it all off and replacing it with non-slip paint.
If, OTOH, it's teak on ply on GRP -> walk away. The cost involved is astronomic and for a boat that size & age not worth it.

Gday fisherman, I own a Kalik 33, which for ages I thought was a kaufman, and didn't confirm make until I did a search on the sail number. Mine has a teak deck to which I did quite a bit of work, but have decided to get everything else in order, and just keep it clean and tidy. I am getting it rigged again now, new mainsail and work done to both headsails, I love it, its as solid as a rock, have been out off port hacking in big swell, she loves it.
Have you seen any others around here? I believe it was an import, would be greatful for anything you may have. I believe it is a late 70's build, as the manual for the yanmar is 77 or 78 from memory.

As far as I know it is the only one in Australia. It was for sale for ages about 7 years ago for $42,000, I was selling my fishing business at the time and had no money. It sold just before I had heaps of money! Plenty of info about the Kalik 33 about in Europe. The only other Kalik I know off here is this 44 http://yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/kalik-44/137331
My wife says I can't have it if you decide to sell!
