KAD44EDC won't rev above 2500

The boat is an F36 fitted with twin KAD44EDCs with electronic throttle. The starboard engine is fine but the port won't rev over 2500 RPM
Clean bum and the boat is on the plane
Any ideas please?

Fuel flow, air in fuel, electrics, in that order. Check simplest first Iain. Does she have new fuel filters? If yes, then check they are tight. If no, are they restricted? Do you have raccor or similar primary filters that you can see?

Hi Iain, I'm with Rafiki on fuel flow. We had a similar problem last year so changed the raccors which made no difference. I then stripped the bowls off the raccor filters and found the ball bearing none return valve was full of crud. Cleaned out and back to full throttle.

Sounds like a good result Tony. Iain's new boat is just around the corner from you in the Bay.

Could be the boost sensor in the ECU playing up, if there is a leak on the pipe or the sensor is faulty it will restrict boost. There is also a tendency for condensation to collect where the T nipple under the ECU which can damage the sensor inside the ECU, the sensor can be replaced seperately.
 
Took the boat out today and still only revving up to 2500rpm
Left the other engine in neutral and ran this one at wot, or as wide as it would go, for a minute.
Pushed both sticks forward and starboard revved up to nearly 4,000 while port sat at 2700, then, without warning the boat accelerated rapidly, looked down to see both Rev counters Up to around 4000 and we were zooming along.
Slowed down and repeated the exercise a few times and all no seems to be ok, no smoke either.
Seems to me that whatever was preventing the. Turbo kicking in has now started working, a stuck solenoid or relay perhaps?
I will get this checked out professionally but it seems strange that this has fixed itself.

No solenoids or relays, did you drain down the boost control switch pipe of water? This needs doing every year
 
Sounds like progress Iain. It could be that a bit of sh!te was clogging a fuel pick up or hose? You may now have cleared this?

No, I didn't do anything, it now seems to be fine though.
I'll report back to Phil, my tame mechanic, all the feedback.
 
Boat has been un used and unloved, all that is now set to change though.

Phil, tame? Pussy cat if you buy him a Burger King! Helped us no end during the trial and pre purchase engineering stuff.
