Kad44 valve setting recomendations, Plymouth

Hi all,
Just bought an S37 with Kad44s lying in St Anne's Battery Plymouth.
Would love a competent Volvo man recommendation to set the valve clearances and give the engines a once over.
Any ideas?

I would get the local VP dealer to do it. It won't be cheap, but it's a job you want done right and with no gaskets available for the rocker covers they should come back and re-seal them under warranty if they leak, which they inevitable do.

If you download the service manual you have the correct torque for these.

Any half decent mechanic can do it, you do not really need an official Volvo one to do it.
It is important to buy the original tappets, that is all.

The annoying part in this job is more the sealing of the top cover, then the valve themselves.
Though aftermarkets gaskets (which I would prefer), then the sealer can be found.

It's half a days work for both engines so shouldn't be too expensive for someone who know what they're doing. As @PowerYachtBlog says, any independent VP specialist should be more than capable of doing the job.

If you do a search, this topic has been the subject of previous extensive and boring discussions. I've had the valves done a couple of times on our boat and have had zero oil leaks.

I believe Re power marine can supply an after market gasket .
By now the original gaskets are sometimes not fit to use again . A good clean of the cylinder head mating area with brake cleaner and a thorough clean of the cover is all that's required, a tube of black gasket maker applying the right amount so that it doesn't go inside the cover is fine .
However I will not guarantee that it won't leak and as the correct part is NLA there's no guarantee.

I was thinking about it but there is a company called Evolution .arine in the yard who seem well regarded locally.
