KAD44, KAD300 OR D6...THAT IS THE QUESTION

I don't think anyone is questioning the reliability of the fuel injection system on D4/D6.

The serious answer is that the D6 option is going to be more desirable. It's more a matter of how much extra money it is worth. Weight could be an issue, and how that might affect trim in a boat originally designed for the lighter KAD series: each D6 will weigh 750Kg compared to 570Kg for a KAD44.

Apart from that there is a list of things to check if buying a D6 powered boat: heat exchanger caps, outdrive hoses, steering rams, props etc...

Poor old Mr Grumpy trying to get some real infomation.

Sorry, i didnt realise my first reply was useless biased nonsense. I will ensure I dont post, leaving more space for those with a valid comment in the future then.

JRB,

Surprised you were the one who ended up walking wounded, as your input was totally rational.

It was the reckless comments alluding to a fragile and troublesome fuel system as well as other 'issues' coming from a mind rather like a soup plate, wide and rather shallow.

People who actually own D4/6 powered boats and those who fix them seem full of praise..........

Once again your responses have been both plentiful and enlightening....Thanks to all for taking the time. Now I just hope that the boats themselves are up to scratch. The 310 D6 does seem to be the favourite but S28's comments about weight are duly noted. Happy New Year to you all.

OK, kind of read it like no-one had made any contribution.

some real information.

barrage of undatabased prejudice.

All the feedback I get is that the D4/D6 is doing a great job out there,

A question was asked on an open forum for details on the D series compared with earlier models, information on recalls and a suggestion to check what they are and that they had been carried out is necessary in the interests of completeness, not warning of these issues is not very neighbourly and not how forums are designed to work.

I also feel you are having a go at me, for the second time.

this is a forum where people seek a wide base of shared knowledge.

I welcome your input, I dont expect you to know everything, I am interested in reading what you do know.
if you are connected to the marine industry you may benefit from in what others know including my input.

I have only stated what I know and i believe to be true.

You may read it as a one off if you like, when you hear of other one offs then you may start to take note of reoccurring issues.

You accused me of being a legal Eagle last time /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

you are way off , not even a legal seagull /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

happy new year

The D6 Boat will accelerate like hell compared with the others , much more bottom end grunt and acceleration.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure that's not true, the KADs have superchargers where as the D's have variable turbos which still needs to spin up to get going. I've not been on a boat who's engines can out accelerate the bigger kad's. They are lightning off the mark.

You're quite right on the 310s' but the D6 350's have superchargers too and they just 'jump' over the hump. I actually back off when accelerating to give the drives a chance. The torque is quite phenomenal and power curve seems to go all the way up.

Fuel consumption is also a little better on the D6 as you can cruise at lower revs in comparison. So far, I'm very impressed! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
