KAD300 v D4260 in same boat

To follow up on the couple of engine comparison threads below...

One of my buddies is looking at some sports cruisers in the 34-38ft bracket.

One of the choices are KAD300s with EDC or newer D4 260s with EVC in the same boat.

I've had no problems with D6s but the drives needed an upgrade in the early days, so I've suggested the newer D4s however, no harm in asking the forum experts just in case

I'd go with the D4s unless the kad boat is ridiculously cheaper.

Just called him. Price difference is 10k for KAD but boat is 12 months older.

What about hp / torque delivery?

570hp v 520hp in 7ton boat.

Personally i'd go for the KAD300 but i'd be a bit biased - That said my KAD300's have given no trouble and they're now 11 years old (Checking through service history, no major issues apart from service / perishable items)
