Hi all.

One of my alternators isint throwing out any power. Hopefully can get it repaired locally but if not can anyone tell me the model? It's a Valeo from research.

I presume I will have to remove and refit the pulley on the new one? It's just a but, right? Will I need a pulled?

Many thanks

Be very careful what you buy , recently I had 2 repaired and neither would work correctly.
It’s possible Volvo have added something inside that isn’t compatible with the dash alarm system

Do you still have the warning lamp showing ?
If not then it could be just the bulb blown in which case it wouldn’t give any output .
Check the yellow wire it must have a 12 volt feed when fitted to the spade terminal on the positive post .

Its odd. No warning lamp but no charging. Once I connect the shore power the charge shows on the dials. I'm on the boat currently with no multimeter so have to wait until Monday to check for power at the alternator.

Ps. When I press the test button the alarm sounds and lights the alternator light

On one occasion our stb kamd300 just stopped charging and i had to fire up the genny to keep going. It turned out to be a detached wire at the alternator. Could be an easy fix, fingers crossed.

If you try jcr supplies based in London
They sell internal parts I.e volt regulators.
Very helpful and cheap as chips - stripped my alternator on my pontiac 7 yrs ago and still going strong.

Problem here is the position of the A under the strainer ,so it gets wet when opening the strainer up .
I made a custom cover to protect .
But leading up that mine did similar strange things - so I removed the various contacts and emery paper d them , applied waxoil - basically made sure they were “ un corroded “
Hey presto problem went away .
You see corrosion inc resistance and sends incorrect signals / volts about .
Luckily I managed to nurse them through 9 years to sale of the boat .
I know yours are fresh water , but you just reach this point later than a seawater boat .
Follow the leads to tge connectors nearby and ck / WD40 etc .
My € is on a poor connection—- corrosion related , or worst case waters gotten in the A casing from its dousings .
