KAD300 +12v feed (for oil extractor pump)

I'm almost convinced that in the past, I used one side of the out-drive pump fuse (white plastic thing on top of the engine) to supply my oil extractor pump with 12v, but last year that didn't work on either engine! (tried with ignition on, also).

Can anyone advise where to get a reliable +12 and -12v feed for an oil extractor pump. It'll be running for about a half hour, so needs to be beefy enough to take a few amp.

Can't remember if it was my alternator or not, I remember checking the back before and there was a +12v feed. Now the 64k question... was it my alternator?!

Yeah this was the obvious one, although not all that accessible for crocodile clips

Nice idea in theory but my batteries are not in the engine bay...hemce the question
