Kad 44 gear shift problematic

They said the same that my 44s wouldn’t support the module.

I'm not convinced they're right on that one. I've heard of quite a few people who have installed SPM's on KAD44's and I believe that @volvopaul has fitted a few himself.

Oh, the engineer was quite confident, I got bosh pots £20 each. I’ll fit them myself. What else could it be? Actuators?

is there a thread to show where and how these new pots are fitted ?

Good job - that's well worth a try then!

@volvopaul is the expert, I only replay what I've read anecdotally over the years.

I doubt that the actuators are the issue but there are microswitches inside them that have been know to cause odd symptoms. Also worth checking the plugs (about 6 inches from the throttle body) for corrosion, check the wiring loom for damage and check all of the connection to the ECU.

Yes good shout on the connections. I checked the fuse holder too as this can be an issue all good there. Thank you all for the advice this is a great forum!

Interesting, I’ll take a look at the connector. I have the engineer with me on the boat tomorrow on another issue with starboard engine not starting I’ll quiz further. Sun comes out and everything breads down

Yes I have this, it’s what I’m using to guide me, plus the advice from my engineer who is a good one.

No fault codes just will not crank, all lights and gauges do what they should. 13v on the battery turn key, actuators do their normal neutral check turn key again I hear a click but no crank!

Unbolt control , 4x8mm head nuts , careful with replacing the pot , 2 screws but there is a gear system , don’t get it wrong .

No not 44 , KAD 300 yes as it has the loom behind dash to take the plug in , if I could size pictures ( a big let down of this forum ) I could post many pics of my daily work but every time I try it just says to resize the file .

Possibly starter motor , do you have early or later style Keypad , you need a red light after station selection button has been pressed which is the key symbol on later pad , no red light no crank .

I plan on taking this home to do with lots of light and no movement. Will video the whole thing as not to get the assembly wrong.

Yes good idea, not that much of a challenge to remove the inter cooler either, 3 bolts plus the oil filter bracket if my memory serves me right.

Not fitter pots yet I’ll calibrate both throttles and clear any fault codes the see if it all works.

I use an app called "Image Shrink". Does what it says on the tin. You can set to the size & location to save that you want.

Then on the full size pic just select share then Image Shrink & it re-sizes & saves it all ready to upload to the forum.

I might have got to the bottom of the starboard starting issue. Just randomly tried the key again and the key barrel has just literally broken completely no feel of position of spring return. Plus none of the lights on that dash work now. Can this be a potential problem ?

Starboard engine running, it was a loose connection on the back of the key barrel. Thank you all for your advice. Should be picking up pots later today so weekend job ready.
