I have a minor oil leak on my std kad 32 , it only appears after a long run and drips
onto the power steering belt making a bit of a mess , would appreciate advice on any ideas what the problem is.

The oil filter, housing, oil pressure switch is in that area, also could be a leak from the supercharger if its clearish oil dripping.

Either way id get it checked by someone as ofter small leaks get bigger! you dont want to loose your oil at WOT as its ££££££££££s.

Possible crankshaft seal? We had this go and it was difficult to see where the actual leak was until we took the crankshaft pulley off

Not particularly, for a boat :)

Belts need to come off, then a "puller" to remove the pulley, new seal goes on, refit... Some say, use heat to refit pulley.

is this an expensive repair?

I had this done by an engineer as you need to have a special tool/puller to get the flange off. Although you could make one - I think peanuts was making one - I'm sure he will be along shortly.
It cost £150 last year to have the seal professionally replaced inc. the cost of the seal.

Did someone mention my name?

As already mention by VP it is in the area of the oil filter assembly so check that area first, you will probably need a torch and mirror to get a good look underneath. The problems I have seen have nearly always been the filter casing itself, changed the filter and leak gone.
However it is not always like that, as RIN mentioned it could be the crankshaft seal (Pt No 1542318). Easy to check, just look under the main lower (crankshaft) pulley and see if there is any evidence of engine oil, if there is then it probably is the crankshaft seal. Not the end of the world and easy enough to replace. Refer to my thread on Pendana's reply.Have to say the usual reason for them leaking is over filling of the engine oil!
Let us know how you get on with your investigation and hopefully we can sort it out for you.

thanks guys for your comments , i did look at the overfilling issue and removed some oil so she was between min and max , but we still have the leak , i mention ed this to the engineer and he dismissed my suggestion said engines should aleays to at full level !
