Kad 300 alternator belt tension

Hi when I was last on my boat I noticed that there was slack in the alternator belt.
Basically when I pressed my finger on the belt it deflected by about 20mm - is this too much??
When I have worked on my cars alternator I have never had the belt this slack

Manual says 10mm .
Loosen both bolts and adjust the adjusting rack .Re tighten both mounting bolts .
There's no need to use a lever .

Might be an idea to check the width of the belt vs a new one.
If substantially narrower, then clean up the pulleys with some emery paper and fit a new one.

Thank you for the replies - the v belt itself looks like there is still life in it and I am getting a replacement at hand.
Before I left the boat I sprayed the bolts with wd40 and will do so again to make it easier on the bolts.
