Just watched My Octopus Teacher

Thanks for the heads up.

I know what fascinating creatures they are, but I suspect that if I watch it, it'll put me off eating octopus; it's so delicious when cooked right. ?

I was on the pontoon at Albufeira and my Spanish mates son had caught one, it was heart breaking to watch him kill it, it slthered behind a cleat and had one eye peeping around it watching him, it was actually cringing as he delivered the fatal blow. I said Id never eat octopus again. My marine biologist offspring tells me that they have to use human type protocols when dealing with octopus because they are so intelligent. I remember seeing one in Greece, the owner would put a prawn in a bottle with the screw top cap in. there was no messing, that octopus knew, the cap was unscrewed by one tentacle, other tentacle in and prawn munched!

The Galicians love them, just had a big fiesta and pulpo Was on the menu............was the menu!

Just don't ask for "naranja con pulpo por favor", causes a bit of hilarity. At least they didn't serve it to my wife. I reminded her of the difference again (pulpa). :D

She has also asked for "chopitos por favor" instead of "un chupito por favor". Luckily she does like baby squid and just re-ordered a drink later. :D:D

We watched this film on the weekend. I could have done without some of the ramblings of the guy who made the film, but what truly amazing footage he shot of a wonderful creature. Really compelling viewing, and further to my earlier post, I really thing that Polpo is off the menu for me now.

Thanks ... we watched about half of it last night (before netflix lots its connection for some unknown reason).

Hoping to see the rest this evening.

Some lovely shots, self-effacing comments, and I'm vegetarian anyway .... so no desire to eat octopus anyway.
