a 35 ft boat ashore in a yard in Christchurch. If accepted, need to get it home.Any suggestions on transport companies from there back to civilisation.ie back to Kent?
And I have no intention on being on first name terms with local lifeboat by attemping to bring boat back by water.Thing has been ashore for some time and I would prefer my first breakdowns to be local.

Having looked into transport and winced at the price I'm cruising from the Hamble to Yalding over the Jubilee weekend so if you want to cruise in company with three new to the sea types with their shiny new Day Skipper shorebased chitties in their back pockets and a RIB instructing civil engineer on leave from the Gulf we are being launched at Universal Marina some time 31/5 and leaving Port Solent or thereabouts on 1/6, heading for Sovereign Harbour and Gillingham is the plan, with fuel stops for the thirsty old BB170 as required (ouch).

Last year we took our 30ft Mirage from Huntingdon to Dover and used a small company from the Isle of Sheppey and he was really good, both price and service. Did a really professional job and for £320 I think. Haven't got his name and number handy, but he was recommended to me by the Harbourmaster at Dover Marina, so try them and I'm sure they'll give you his number.

If you get stuck, let me know and I'll have a look through last year's diary if I can find it.

I used Robert Page & Son in Hook, Hants a couple of weeks ago to move a Buckingham 25 to Twickenham. Cost £352 inc vat. Not a specialist boat mover but I found them very good. You can call him on 01256 762428.

Do the decent thing and take 2/3 days and go by sea. It is a boat, after all. You'll need help getting out of Christchurch, but as I guess you're coming from Elkins, I'm across the river in Rossiter's, so happy to accompany you on the first leg...
