Posted by EA on Twitter this morning - don’t ask me why, I haven’t a clue!

“Good morning all locks to be placed on hand wind only from 12pm today ( except Hambleden and Cookham where this isn’t an option)until the 4th Jan Here is wishing you a very Merry Christmas “

Did they also mention the River is on red boards and elevated levels currently?

I would have definitely added that detail as it is relevant for Christmas boating.

Sad to not be on the river again this year but it was the same last year so glad to be spending some time at home in Co Durham rather than sat on the marina in the cold.

Happy Christmas to everyone and it makes sense to shut the river and all the locks down to allow everyone some time off to take stock of the current situation.

The notice from the EA on Weds said the River was closed, no recreational boating, no going to marinas, no working on boats.

River movement only for liveaboards who had no alternative but to move a boat.

Sailing club boat parks and marinas can open for individual exercise, and for people to use with others within their household, support bubble, or with one person from another household. However, you should consider the associated risks very carefully
