Well we decided to take the plunge and have all new upholstery and covers fitted to out new to us boat and this is the finished result

here is how the boat originally looked

This is what we decided to go for

This is the new cover clipped back so when we use the BBQ the cover is not near the grill

I had the doorway made different so I could roll it up as the old one used to just flop around in the breeze

I had the other side made the same so I could roll both rear corners up without having to totally dismantle the rear cover if I didn't want too

here you can see we had some over covers made to cover the corners where people hold on as they walk through the boat this was just to try and protect the vulnerable areas from wear and tear

We also had them made for other areas too

Not really Jez as I personally thought that would be a bit too much with the amount of seating and the teak floor I thought sand covers would be a bit much plus I have the blue dash and I think the blue covers pick the dash up, I know I could have wrapped the dash but at the end of the day its a 10 year old boat and I don't have a bottomless piggy bank lol

No criticism I just wondered.

It looks cracking either way, makes it look newer than 10 years. I like to do the same on the new tub assuming I complete on this one but the piggy bank will be so depleted I suspect it may have to wait until 2017

Just about to have the same done to my Targa 52 - can you share with me the manufacturer and colour of the upholstery, please?

BTW - looks great - I had an S42 with SPS just like yours many years ago, and I loved it more than some of the stupid money boats that I ended up buying subsequently.

yes they came to Weymouth to do it all they removed all the old trim etc and did the whole job start to finish, I was very impressed with the service, they made it all then pre fitted it then removed to make slight alterations then refitted for the final job I would recommend them with no worries at all.

Looks great. Seen similar done on an S41 before and it absolutely transforms the boat. You must be delighted with the result :)

We had an S41 - without doubt, still the best cabin and cockpit in a 40' boat. Sadly, the boat's volume caused some scary handling problems, fixed I gather in the S42 with modified chines.

yes I think they sorted this issue on the S42/43 plus mine is on shafts which I have been told never suffered from the problems you had, and yes the cabins are amazing and the cockpit area, they are just huge for a 42ft boat I am loving mine

I had a 2004 S42 on shafts... still had the scary chine walking...

Trust me, I've had mine 10 years, and been as far as Paris and the Scillies, sometimes accompanied by an S41 and they are like Chaulk and Cheese, much more planted in the water, MBY did a great comparison test when the 43 was released and concluded the same. I suspect you will have yours a long time Shawn.

How's the sailing going Nico.... We must catch up for a beer.
