Just back from a fantastic time on the MBM Channel Islands cruise.Superb weather, wonderful scenery, lots of like minded people enjoying sun, fun and frolics (and a few boring old farts too!).

Did you have a nice week at work?

So a good trip eh? Didn't you have a westerly 6-7 for your positioning trip to the Solent? How was it? Just hold on for grim death and hope for the best or was it planned panic? We're looking forward to the Zeeland cruise and will see you then though we've still not heard a word from MBM since the confirmation of our acceptance in January. Perhaps they think my little boat's not up to it and hope that if they ignore me I'll forget all about it. How did you find the organisation? Is everything planned for you or is it just a case of "tonight we're booked into xxx Marina, see you there" or what? formal, informal? Do I need to bring a dinner jacket or will the oily boilersuit be OK?

Re: Zeeland

Hi Colin how are you? We had an interesting trip from Ramsgate to the Solent, we had planned to run down to Eastbourne Wednesday afternoon, then to Cowes on Thursday. Of course the weather put its spoke in coz we had a full gale in the Eastern Channel on Thursday!
The end result was the whole trip non stop on Friday with some residual swell from the gale. Mostly ok but we found a few ripples around Beachy Head !!!! It took 7 hours at 20 kts and I had had enough by the time we made Lymington.

The cruise was well organised with a briefing before every leg. You will receive some cruising notes with all the required waypoints, charts required etc.

There was also a concerted effort to arrange some more 'apres sea'. Something which I feel had been lacking in previous years. A couple of wine tastings(drinking!) with the local Yacht Clubs as well as some pontoon parties and and group meals. Some of the stuffed shirt brigade went for jackets and ties but I am afraid as I was on holiday it was shorts and the loudest shirt money can buy for me.

Zeeland should be a fantastic trip with only one sea crossing for Mrs Colin to worry about! Then lots of lazy days soaking it all up. (Someone said I was just an old soak). The worst that can happen is one of us having to put our fingers in the Dyke.(But I'm not sure if she will be there!!)

Let me know when you will be arriving in Ramsgate.

Ta Ta.
