That although the weather is lovely , the river can still be a dangerous place ..

In the last couple of weeks we have lost two people , swimming drunkenly across the river from the Gazebo pub in Kingston. Both were in their mid twenties.

One of them was yesterday. He was pulled from the river unresponsive , and died later in hospital. The other was found two days after he went in by police divers.

Today we have this ...

Hoping he is found alive and well , but it doesn't look good to be honest. We saw the lifeboat depart from Teddington at about 12.30.

Not trying to preach to anyone , but just be safe :)

I saw this. Was at a friends when both Teddington life boats were launched. We were going out in said friends boat and saw the helicopter about, and police lining the side of the river. Not a great thing that's for sure.

We went past yesterday at approx 3pm there were 3 RNLI and 1 police boat out plus lots of police cars on the bank.

When we went through Teddington lock we were the only people wearing life jackets and proper shoes. Every other boat was bare foot and no life jackets including small children.

Not such a good year down here either. One canoe incident, one young lad on a tree swing and two alcohol related events near to the town centre. Also a boat fire recently, probably gas or petrol related.
