Jubilee flotilla coverage - why did the BBC get it so wrong

Well, it's a start but she's not actually employed by the Beeb, though.

And to be very blunt there are too many people with very big salaries who have no intention of admiting anything which may prejudice the continuation of those big salaries. The fundamental problem is that the Beeb is so bound up in the cult of false/fake celebrity that it cannot actually see the common man any more

What action?

Well perhaps the next time they get a national broadcast event, they will not just farm it off to the One Show team:p

If you want something, it's a good idea to ask for it specifically rather than leaving the other party to guess exactly what it is you want. That is certainly true of petitions. But, of course, this is neither a petition nor located in an appropriate place (unless you do genuinely want this thing debated in parliament? If so, well, good luck with that! :))

The BBC has received thousands of complaints and been roundly criticised by media and "celebs" alike. This will add nothing. Why not just send in your own complaint?

I can't imagine what the BBC was thinking - broadcasting a whole hour on Thames barges last night. And giving all kinds of tedious "information" into the bargain. What could be more of a "minority interest" than Thames barges?

The contention that people can't possibly be interested in something in which they are not already interested (which seems to be an important plank of the BBC's defence) is truly insulting and the very essence of "dumbing down". And, even if GRJ was the bait for last night's enjoyable programme, broadcast in prime time, it certainly gave the lie to that dismal notion.

Are you sure it was a Canadian ensign? With my [limited] knowledge of royal protection matters; in public engagement duties members of the security services that are armed wear small lapel badges with a red circle on a white background to identify themselves to other members of the team. Are you sure this wasn't what was represented on the 'ensign' on the rib in question? Perhaps to similarly identify them to other service personnel as armed protection officers?

Seems logical to me.

One of the ORCs was wearing a Canadian Ensign because it was manned by the Canadian Navy. Others were manned by members of the Australian and New Zealand Navies and were flying their respective Ensigns. Not mentioned by the BBC of course because that would have been interesting.

a bunch of little boats bob along a river on a drizzly day in June, can you think of anything more boring to film excepting of course for the few boatbores who want technical detail of a Thames ferry boat.

To be fair, I can't think of a worse spectacle for the majority of people to endure in the uk. I am a boat owner and I find boats presented like this rather boring, so what hope for the rest of us normals?

I realise this is a condensed group of fanatics, but just look at it from the eyes of a normal person, how much do you think they care, about the same as you when the golf open is on the television for 4½+ loooong hours.

Boats on film are boring much like paintings of ships etc. This was about a jubilee event, the boats for the majority of us were just as bemoaned, a side show.

So when the golf is on, you get golf
when tennis in on you get tennis... football, F1 all follow similarly

but when boats are on we get .. what?
Young musician is always just as bad, they turn it into reality Tv and waste the kids talents.

It was so bad it even got slated by Ian Hislop (who was there) on Have I Got News For You tonight and needless to say They also included the pinnacle of Tom Cunliffe's contribution to the topic of semaphore. If you missed it tonight there is the extended version to follow

It does make you wonder what the BBC will do the next time they have to cover a Royal Funeral ....

They'll probably have a troll round to find out who else died on the same day, a section on funeral catering, and interviews with people who remember dead celebrities

Just read in the Daily Wail tha poor Fearne is claiming that all the complaints about her performance are bullying, presumably the female celebrity's equivalent of the race card.
