I want to have a JRC1800CP combined radar chartplotter on the helm position, which will interface to ST4000 Wheelpilot, and to Navman 3100 instrument set, and an ICS6 Nav plus down at the chart table. GPS signal also to feed the DSC Radio
The question is, can I hook a laptop into this to read chartplotting and/or radar info at the chart table. If so, then can anyone recommend:-
A) The software or setup required or
B) A company who will be able to supply all the above kit and assist with putting it all together (not the actual installation) with diagrams etc?

Ta v much
yours in vexation

I think that that sort of connectivity is only available from Raymarine.

BTW if you are doing that, then why not also consider adding the AIS feed from NASA . I understand that they intend having an AIS engine available for the laptop in the next 6 months!

Jim, In view of the depth of problems you are having getting your head round & anticipating the fitting out this wondrous new vessel, are you sure that this new addition to the East Coast fleet is worth all the hassle?. When do you take delivery?

Tony,
it is behoven upon us to increase the stock of suitable used boats for the East Coast in the future. A 35 foot lift keel means Rowhedge and Snape Maltings are comfortably in the target, whilst retaining a lot of comfort.
The small matter of electronics is neither her nor there to me really, as I use the log and depth of a NASA Target, with a Garmin GPS72 at the moment. Perfectly adequate.
However, I have an opportunity to play with electronics, and I will never have the money again to invest this much, so I want to push the envelope a bit. Huge element of Engineer gone mad in the toyshop.....
Anyway, Full Circle will arrive at Burnham at the end of February, and expect to break champagne by the 1st April. In river trials to settle out all the systems, then gently wedging it on the mud trials up the Roach.
As you can guess, I am like a dog with several waving appendages for the next few months......
Hassle, what hassle?

I found out the answer - there is an RS232 port in the plotter. Bad news is I cant use it all upstairs in the breeze. Harumph. More thinking required.

npf1,
a jewel of info no doubt. What happens when I saunter up to Maplins counter and ask the spotty yoof for one? Will I get the 'doan be stoopid grandad' look?
Is there a source you know of?

even if you did...

The RS232 port on the JRC Radar 1800 is only to allow their Windoze app to up/download waypoints to the plotter. The format is just CSV (comma separated variables), e.g. "WPT001, 050N42.35, 003W02.72". So it's hardly a boon on deck...
