All planned for a nice little jaunt - San Remo to Sotogrande, even got the famous Col along for the ride, and what do we get, 40knot winds and torrential rain!!! Now stuck in a bar in Le Lavandou, possibly till Sunday - at least the beer is cold!

And you expect sympathy from us lot! Where was my invite for the trans-atlantic leg, thats what I want to know :)

Enjoy the bar, don't let the bloke with the spanners out of your sight, I understand he now has a thing for gearboxes the size of family cars....
 
Yes,

The last two days have been horrible! 25knot winds, Whitecaps on the waves, torrential rain.....but the Sun has just come out and the wind seems to be dropping! Looking forward to Sailing this weekend. Friday, Saturday and Sunday all full Sun and 23 degrees. Anoyingly the wind is forecast as calm 5-10 knots max. I am sure it will soon pass over you guys so you can head down here

Hi Paul that looks great glad you are enjoying her. Will be down early Nov to arrange changing from Colditz to MB

Yes Colditz is more restrictive but it is great for me! MB better for you with more parking and bars!

I have two steering wheels because I was going to buy a Flybridge and just got used to the idea! Actually she is nearly 15ft wide so you need to sit on the side to see past her when she is healing over or you will run over small boats (or into big tankers/ferries)...and it gives an easy walk through transom!

I am sure you will get the hang of it when you try!

I guess they dont have sole rights over the Dolphins cos they are after all wild.
Hear what you are saying though, the accent will be on bay trips with anchor swim and lunch, i.e. private charter as opposed to "Dolphin trips" per se

May be sunny but as you say windy,and the bay wont be fun at all!!

Why not drop down to Mahon 212M with the following wind and the beers are on me. south menorca, south Mallorca and on to Soto. looks good at the moment.

Can we have that 3 days of Baleric sun please?

Jon has just nipped back to the boat and left me to give an update.
We are held here waiting for the predicted 45knt winds in the Gulf du Lions to clear through during Fri, decreasing Sat ready for a Sunday departure. The plan is to set off to soto in one hit, which should take 4 days. The boat has been brilliant ( which means I haven't had to fix any thing more than the helm seat so far)
We will try and update as & when we can.

Good Luck Guys and safe trip....that is a long way! Fortunately places to stop on the way if you get in trouble. Lety us know when you set off

Just a word of warning on Soto, it is a tight entrance in anything over a F5! On my Seatrial we had to enter in a F7 and it was the most scary thing ever, as we surfed in on a wave and literally had a few feet to spare below our keel with a beach 50ft to the port side and large rocks 25ft to the starboard side! Always best to radio ahead the harbour if it is rough and ask there advice as you may need to put into Banus.La Duquessa and wait it out.

The forecast here for the weekend is maximum of 24 degrees (and yes that is centigrade) with winds speeds max 4 knots and no cloud. As long as the sea has calmed down a bit after the stormy weather it could well be very nice mobo conditions.

When we first came out here, we did more boating here in December, than we did in the UK in August...
