Johnson pump advise please

I want to change the two seals in a Johnson pump whilst fitting a new impellor, the pump is on a Bukh DV20.

A fellow sailor has had these seals fail on his engine which has contaminated the engine oil and almost seizing the engine.

This has put the wind up me so to speak,can anyone advise how its done and which way do the seals face?

This has been addressed here several times before. See this thread, and particularly the post from Oldharry. (Although the poster asks about the 10hp, the 20hp is the same.)
