Johnson Outboards

I have now had two Johnson 4hp outboards, kept on the pushpit of my boat. Both of them have suffered seriously from water in the petrol tank, requiring me to syphon the bottom of the tank before starting. The filler caps have been replaced, and the vent screw is kept tightly closed. There is no difference if the tank is kept full and the motor covered with a plastic bag. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas of the cause would be welcomed.

suggest you look in your fuel drum. If its steel and you store it on a concrete floor you will get condensation in the drum. Solution , buy a plastic drum and always store on a piece of plank.
