My shower pump stopped working. Motor seems to be burned out but assuming the cost of these is in the brass, the impeller etc. and replacing the motor may be relatively cheap I was trying to take it apart. However, the two long bolts which hold it together don't want to come out: I turn at the top, they're turning at the bottom but not coming out. Pushing the screws from the bottom while turning eventually got them up a few mm. Pulling them with pliers isn't working. Is there a trick or has time just made the threads weird and I'm going to have to cut the heads of the bolts, take the top off and push the threads down?
Failing that anyone recommend a replacement? It's on a manual switch and is for pumping out water from under the grating in the heads. obviously needs to be self priming, only needs to lift about a meter. Something like a jabsco water puppy looks like a direct replacement . The jabsco show drain pump looks cheaper, can run dry but would require me stepping down the 25mm pipework. Whale gulper also looks appropriate.
