John Boyle is back in MBY and taking his V39 to Norway

Nice to see again... been there, done that... on the return, he should have been approx 1 NM further out ... he would have hit the bigger swell earlier, but the swell would not have been so "confused".

They are also considering building a "bypass" of Stad in form of a canal/tunnel

Hope you enjoy the series.
It's impossible not to! Thanks for highlighting the video, well worth watching indeed.
If it weren't that by now I am so addicted to boating barefoot and in swimsuit (not to mention swmbo, who rates as freezing cold the sea water whenever under 25°...), I would love to cruise that area a bit! :encouragement:

I use these videos to point out to Mrs FP that going "a long way, e.g. All the way to Newtown Creek" needs putting in perspective.

In theory an 8000kg SC35 could do something similar to the 9000kg V39, but there's a big gap of confidence..... I was amazed at where John managed to go in a humble S34!

:)

We are a bit crap when it comes to distance. This time last year I helped take some Princess boats from Phuket to Singapore, about 600 miles. Back in the Solent I'm spoiled rotten again. Time to cast off and do a Forest Gump I think....

Just watched the video, excellent but as he said its a bit too early to see Norway at its best. The big seas he encountered show what a sound hull a Princess has, and I know this from personal experience of delivering Princess's up and down the west coast, though fortunately they ranged from 50 ft to 95ft. Anyone know his itinery, is he going up the west coast only, or will he come round to the sunny side where I now live?
( Telemark).

Home, sweet home :)
Nice video, but wish it was longer so you could have showed more from the trip up along the west coast. Lots of great places here too.
