There's an awful lot of carping going on here. I have written to her in the past about supporting the Donaghadee/Portpatrick bridge. Unfortunately she must have forgotten to reply. I'll write again and, this time, enclose a stamped addressed envelope. That should get her onside.

I'm thinking that bridge will be awfie handy when Scotland becomes independent and rejoins the EU and Ireland gets re -united.

Could be - but it's a bit of a long way round.

Aren't you, though, just leaving one overlord to take orders from another? Where's the independence there? Why not a floating tunnel to Norway instead? That's a properly independent country for you.

It was not a rant against the government.

I was attacking Johnson personally for being a terrible human being.

I dunno, I'm not British but am aware that Johnson's attention span is limited and as for the Conservative Westminster crew, I don't really trust them; feels like an I'm from Mars and they're from Venus situation to me.

That said, "terrible human being"? I'm not sure. Johnson is a libertarian at heart and while he can be a right royal PITA, and quite possibly incompetent, I think his heart is in the right place. I don't know this first hand but second hand several times over.

With autocratic leaders ego-driven characters like Macron, Putin, Lukashenko, Modi, and Orban strutting the world stage .....well, I'd take Bumbling Bojo every time.

Be careful what you wish for!!

You'll need to give up any thought of retirement. Donaghadee needs you.

Ps: in your modelling make sure the Larne option is shown to be exhorbitantly expensive. Those religious nuts!
Perhaps it needs an underwater roundabout - a bit like the underground one in the Faroes - to allow the traveller from Scotland to head for either Donaghadee or Larne ... I will leave it to those with local knowledge to decide how the two exits would be signed .

Lots of old disused coal mines under the central belt. They could be brought to bear. Save some costs. Can you do a quick modelling?

Back to the lovely subject. I watched the delicious Joanna go around Scotland last night.
The point is, others do the same sort of thing, there is one on the go at the moment.
The question that arises is, Joanna Lumley or Susan Calman ........... Susan Calman or Joanna Lumley.

Hmmm.

Sorry Susan.

I wonder if Katya Adler fancies doing a bit of a tour round Scotland?
I'll write but in the meantime, when she says yes, could I borrow the MG?

But Johnson is sending Prince Edward and Sophie up to live in Edinburgh and save the union. She might do some TV for you - "Sea Fishing with The Countess of Wessex", "Exploring the Union Canal with The Countess of Wessex", "The Free Presbyterian Church in Scotland with the Countess of Wessex" (to show her intellectual depth), etc. etc. I have loads more ideas.

Which reminds me I once wrote an application letter for a friend who wanted to work on a six o'clock magazine TV show in London. She didn't get the job, but all the ideas I put in the application letter were used over the following months. The e**ers.

You'd never win an argument with Susan Calman, she being a lawyer amongst other things.

... campaigning against exploding discarded ordanance under water to clear the sea bed for wind farms ...

Whats wrong with exploding disused ordnance underwater? Why would anyone be concerned such that it needs a campaign to stop it?
