Friends from BSM went to the Lerins for a couple of days yesterday. The webcam at BSM looks epic and when I went to spot my friends (on AIS) I see that Match 2 appears to be at anchor. I hope you are having a great time, beats being stuck in the UK.

Delightful! Which boat were your friends on? There were perhaps 60 boats anchored there on 27th. I'll post some video later but meantime some stills. Full moon too

They each took their own - Dana 2 and Petit Prince. Two live aboards from BSM. The nicest of guys and always quick to say hello or lend a hand. Their only weakness is a love of French Rugby!

Nice pics, though unless the drone has lights how do you maintain line of sight?
You don't need to see the helicopter. The FPV is completely immersive and inside your head you are inside the helicopter. looking at your boat or whatever, from 30m up in the case of those shots. So long as you can see the boat you can fly the helicopter by line of sight, and anyway the dashboard gives you a line of return to boat and an altitude.

The thing does have LEDs but they're best taped over because they create a glow onto the top corners of the images

I've flown mine a few times now but I still keep looking at it from the ground rather than its FPV.
Today I plucked up the courage to let it fly a POI on its own - gave me an eerie feeling of not being in control.
Lot more practice needed yet before it flies over water!!

Looks like you had the bay to yourself. Listening to Riviera Radio here and the reports of the cancelled fireworks in St Raphael and St Tropez I was wondering how many towns would follow.

My wife keeps telling me we will be spending next Christmas and New Year in BSM - no debating!

Here's a drone view of the Cannes new year fireworks at midnight last night. Happy new year to everyone

Happy New Year to you too and everybody on the forum.

Very nice pics. Did you adjust the camera settings manually or use it on automatic?

K, I left the camera settings at default. I haven't got around to learning how to change them. Here are couple of videos. The fireworks one has Rihanna soundtrack that might be limited in some countries- I'll re-do it if needed

Wow, wow , wow!

That has set the bar for this year already ;)

Stunning images and fireworks - you are getting the hang of this Drone lark :encouragement:

Brightened up a grey cold afternoon here.

Lovely videos, particularly enjoyed the second showing the underwater features. What depth were you in and do you find the Lumishotes attract fish after being on a while?

We were on a Nordhavn in Panama a few years back that had underwater lights, nowhere near as bright as Lumishores, and within minutes there were shoals of fish and a few small sharks swimming around. In Dartmouth when I switch ours on we sometimes get large numbers of fish, and then other times virtually none. I put that down to the state and power of the current running past.

Great videos, JFM
I would love to get shots like that.
Do you worry about crashing it into the water?
As I said before, I still need to keep watching mine and not looking at the screen/FPV.
I think I would be worried about landing it (unintentionally) in the water if I was constantly using FPV - especially at night.

As I say, great pics - thanks for posting.

When FPV first became popular the BMFA recommended using a buddy box system which was basically having a second transmitter linked up. The main TX would be under the control of the line of sight pilot who, by means of releasing a switch could take immediate control of the aircraft from the pilot flying FPV, using the second TX.
