I went on a Jet Ski for the first time a couple of weeks ago....then again a week ago, was pretty impressed to be honest, although admittedly this was in the South Pacific and maybe a tad warmer than here!
That said, it got me thinking and I can see how they could be quite appealing as an alternative to Ribbing, for short blasts out after work perhaps. But one thing does bug me, looking around the manufacturers websites, there seem to be little or no provision for fixed VHF and/or chartplotters.
Now I can see how using a VHF @ 50 knots may be a tad tricky, but stopping to use one, would surely be plausible, or am I over complicating things here and do people who jetski use handheld VHF's?
More than the VHF, the chartplotter (or lack of) bugs me, I guess maybe its just not practical to mount one, but it seems a bit risky to me as there definitely isn't any scope for using paper charts or realistically even an iPad, so how do you navigate effectively?
