In the absence of any other offers I am happy to take on the organising of the next Jester Challengers annual dinner. I’m making an early announcement in the knowledge that Norm Bailey, ex-commodore of the Newport Rhode Island Yacht Club is keen to join us and could no doubt benefit from as much notice as possible in order to organise his travel arrangements.
Most people seemed delighted with the reception we received earlier this year at the Fox’s Marina Yacht Club in Ipswich, Suffolk so on that basis I have made a booking for 31st January 2015. The club has a hotel opposite, good access by road and rail and is circa 60 minutes from Stansted Airport as well as the potential for marina berths.
I’d like to propose a format similar to last year including a symposium and evening drinks before the dinner itself. I’ll communicate timings, details of the symposium, local hotels and rail links once I have collated a list of those wishing to attend.
Being a relatively small club we are restricted to 40 people so please contact me early to ‘avoid disappointment’ particularly as the East Coast Jester chapter continues to grow steadily! Please contact me at pmead5000@gmail.com conforming how many places for dinner you would like to reserve. I will then use your e-mail address to contact you in due course with the details mentioned above.
