JESTER BALTIMORE CHALLENGE 2013 - BERTHING & SOCIAL ARRANGEMENTS AT PLYMOUTH
We are pleased to announce that the Tamar River Sailing Club ( http://tamarriversailingclub.co.uk/ situated at 50N24.4 4W12.1) has offered to host entrants for the Jester Baltimore Challenge in the days leading up to the start on Sunday 16 June at 1100BST.
It is confirmed that rafted-up pontoon berths, and moorings close by, will be available from Thursday 13 June for the 20 boats who, so far, have declared their intention to attend. An all-day/evening water taxi service will be run by the Club for boats on moorings. Moorings will be available earlier in the week by arrangement.
Entrants should call or text Tony Head on +44 7885914148 an hour before arrival so that he or a club official can attend and direct you to the appropriate berth and help you secure. If contact is not made, boats should approach the pontoon and hail for advice.
A club member will be allocated to each boat to act as “buddy” and provide local information and assistance as required.
A barbecue will be held on Friday evening (14 June), the Skipper’s Briefing and signing of disclaimer/blood chits will take place at lunchtime on Saturday, and there will be a Jester Dinner on Saturday evening, 1800 for 1930. On Sunday 16 June the Club will be providing a hearty breakfast for entrants from 0730 in preparation for the short passage to the Sound and the start.
The club will charge an all-in ticket price of £35 (THIRTY FIVE POUNDS) which will include berthing or moorings, water taxi, barbecue, dinner and breakfast. Additional guests will be charged £3 for the barbecue, £12 for dinner and £5 for breakfast. This represents excellent value and we are very grateful to TRSC for offering these facilities. Please pay Tony Head on arrival in cash or cheque in favour of TRSC.. Beer and wines etc will be extra of course. Jester Baltimore Challenge burgees will also be available for a small charge (probably about £10).
To assist in planning, Challengers should contact Tony Head as soon as possible with details of planned arrival time, and numbers attending the barbecue, dinner and breakfast.
Challengers should note that power boat racing will take place in Plymouth Sound on 15 & 16 June and special safety corridors may be imposed by the Queen’s Harbour Master for small craft entering or exiting the Sound. Be alert to MOD safety boats operating in the area.
