Hi, I've unsuccessfully looked for the details you want but if I do find them I will forward them to you. It was some time ago but I learned a valuable lesson- I made a list of the spec I wanted, I did a search of boat dealers in Brittany / Normandy etc via Yahoo France, I emailed the dealers the spec I wanted asking for details of costs/delivery etc. Someone fluent in French is a great asset. The replies were very competitive and dealers were open to haggle..(something the British are not very good at - I never pay the asking price for anything). VAT was not included. VAT is payable at the rate at point of import. e.g. UK is 17.5%, Rep of Ireland is 21% - just declare the vessel as an import in a European country with the lowest VAT rate. Hope this helps - a couple of grand in your pocket is better than in someone elses!

Caravans?

You know I'll always rise to that one Ken. Can't comment on Atlantic crossings but here is the update on our 'caravan' - coped extremely well with Biscay, didn't slam much, impressed friends with much old, heavier, long keel boats sailing in the same inclement weather. Now on the Algarve where the accommodation is good and yes, heading into the med. Still glad we've got a Bav 34? You bet!

Re: Caravanners unite!

Haven't met Stingo, but the boats share a marina. Think he's planning to set off on his travels before we return down there. Quite a few Scuttlebutters in residence there, they seem to be having a good time, can't wait to get back and join in!
