I'm considering buying a share in a 1987 Jeanneau Sunlight 30 in the Med, does anyone on here have an opinion on this model?
I can't find a lot of information on the web about this model so any hints or tips would be most useful. A boat test would be great as well but I'd better not push my luck!
Thanks in advance etc....

I am just entering my second season as an owner of a 1986 sunlight 30. We have been really pleased with her sailing around the Oban area. Original build quality seems good. We did replace (original) berth cushions last season though! They are quick and manouverable - and make an easy passage boat. Will slam a little to windward , but nothing too bad. Stiff and great fun to sail - reasonable ( not narrow) fin keel and semi skeg rudder. Comfy , spacious cockpit can take 4 adults in comfort when sailing - record is 10 in marina!. Plenty of space below, aft cabin is a little small by modern standards, but heads and galley are good as is nav area. Stowage isn't brilliant on ours - doesn't have all the possible locker options, but we have happily sailed a week with out need to re-stock water or food sailing 2 up. We regularly sail 5 up adults for weekends with no space problems.
I believe the "sunlight" name was coined because they are very light inside, clever window design and use means they are not dark below, this maybe a minor issue somewhere like the med? If you are ever up my way she will be in the water from april onwards!
Any particular questions?

I Spent two weeks on a Sunlight 30 on an Ionian flotilla. Its a long time ago, but I liked the boat a lot. Very practical and plenty of space for four. It is more cruiser than racer of course, but sails pretty well. We could not stay with the lead boat (Sigma 33) in spite of being keen racers in those days, but it was a very comfortable boat (yes it did slam a bit..but nothing to bother with), and perfectly good quality as far as I could see.

Well looked after S 30s seem to have kept their price as well..I do look now and again at how much they fetch.

As long as its in good condition and survey is OK I don't think you can go far wrong with one of these.

Make sure you have her surveyed ashore and checked for osmosis. They were built at a time when Jeanneau had a major osmosis problem. Mine is 1988, have owned it for 4 years and very happy with both accommodation and sailing performance but she has developed some fairly major blisters, possibly aggravated by the fact she is anchored in fresh water year round.

Nice boat at the right price.
