Anyone tell me anything about the Jeanneau Melody?. Found a 1977 boat in Spain that looks interesting, but would like a few tips on what to look out for when I go and have a closer inspection. Any help would be greatfully received.

There is an owners group here
Probably the best place to look for information.
The Melody was a popular boat with a lot built, so it clearly has a bit going for it.

It's a boat I like a lot, although I can't tell you anything other than the obvious if going to look at one. They sail well, plenty of power, good living space, very deep hulled so have four or five steps in the companionway.

Good luck - hope you like what you see.

I bought an old Melody (in Spain) 8 years ago and kept and sailed around the Thames Estuary and SE Coast for 4 years.
4 Years ago I prepared and sailed it to the Med - Malta - without any problems (although that had a lot to do with a good refurb and good crew from EYC)
I've kept it in Malta ever since and at 66 sail it solo on day sails regularly without any problems.
I'm even still running the original Yanmar engine.
The Melody is an honest, strong, powerful cruiser that gives some modern ones a good run for their money.
Of course you've got to be realistic and expect some refurbishment work will be required on an on going basis.
I say go for it especially if besides pure sailing you also like messing around on boats.

Good luck,

Godwin
Harmony.
