I'm looking for a newer boat for mostly day cruising in the Carrick Roads area and like the look of these. Does anyone have any comments or similar alternatives. There are many for sale in France for not too much money, mainly with petrol engines though. The attraction is a large open seating area for my large grown up family and a cabin & heads if needed. also a good wide beam so stability is not bad. Any comments welcome!

Great boat, large cabin and cockpit for it's LOA.

Trim tabs are a *must* imho

Canopy is a nuisance, but practical (A radar arch would have helped lots here!)

Thanks alt. Lots of them for sale in France but all petrol variants. I understand it is a fool's errand trying to swap a petrol motor for diesel in order to save money. Anyone know about buying a boat in France and getting it back here?

The primary issue with buying in France is that it would attract VAT when bringing it to the UK.

That one from MGM looks good - KAD43 (diesel), bow thruster (great to have although not totally essential) and extended platform (essential, IMHO).

Doesn't have trim tabs, which I consider essential on this boat, but it's something that one could live without (or have installed).

No pics of the canopy - canopies are expensive so you'd want to get confirmation that it's all there and in usable condition (esp in Ireland / UK)

It's mad how prices have gone - a friend of mine sold his 805 (which would have been similar age to the one above) for under €40k .... TEN years ago! That said, I sold my Sealine S23 (2003) over 10 years ago for €34k with a trailer... they're making more than that today. That's life!

There is a YT channel called 'Aquaholic' run by a guy called Nick Barnham (I think). He owns an 805 Leader with D4/260 diesel and has several videos of the boat, including a very good walf-through tour.

Well worth having a look in Ireland - a quick Google threw these up and the first one is in NI which avoids any tax issues bringing to GB.

We looked at the one in Dublin, as we were looking to downsize, nice boat but decijded against it as we thought the cabin was a bit small, but our last boat was a 36 foot cruiser
Anyway long story short we found a really nice 28 font river cruiser which is newer then the 805 and with the benefit of being on conventional shafts, deposit paid and survey being done Tuesday, it was quite a bit more money but hey ho that's boating.

I hope all goes well with the survey and your new purchase gives you many years of safe and enjoyable boating.
