anyone know what the construction of the hull is in these boats?
is it solid fibreglass or is it a fibreglass/balsa sandwich???
if its a sandwich - is this potentially a long term problem???

I have the brochure which helpfully makes no mention of hull construction. My own smaller Prestige 34 is solid except for a couple of small areas either side where a sandwich construction has been used, for extra rigidity so the surveyor reckoned. All this tells us is that Jeanneau aren't against the use of sandwich construction in the hull....

Most planing boats use sandwich construction for the top sides and deck, just not necessarily balsa.

Most will use high density foam or a specific product such as divinicel.

The horror stories of cored or sandwich construction are 30 years out of date. The process has moved on a lot

We drilled through the hull on our 2008 P36 for a transducer the other week but I can't remember what the make-up was. The core is still in the boat and I'll take a look at it this weekend. I was however impressed with the hull thickness - must have been about 30mm.

I believe they have cored hulls, not sure if its balsa or something else. There are areas that are not cored, usually the areas under water where you have an opening for piping, shafts, exhaust, bowthruster etc. This is to make sure you don't get water inte the core material.
