Hi. I've ordered some seals for this pump as it's starting to weep water. It's off a small perkins m30.

I've looked at a few videos on YouTube, but can't find any of this particular pump.

But basically I think the method is after removing the pump and impeller and removed the circlip of the engine side, the spindle can be knocked through. Is this on the right track?
Tia.

Just did the same job last week and you have summed up the job with your description.I polished up the surfaces and used a bit of gasket sealer to finish off and so far all is water tight. Good luck

The seal has a spring, does the spring face the engine?

I'd expect two seals ( probably the same)

One is the water seal. The spring faces the pump impeller

The other is the oil seal. The spring faces the engine.

There may be a spacer or O ring between them

Check the bearings while you have it apart and also the shaft for wear where in runs in the seals.

The Jabscoshop website has diagrams of the pumps

Thanks for the reply. Yes it has two seals, but the service kit only came with the water seal, impeller and the small bolts. I suspect I should have gone for the rebuild kit which contains everything except the shaft, which apparently wears and rends even new seals useless. I'll see when I strip it down.
