Jabsco raw water input hose leak

Could you not wrap some of the rubber self amalgamating tape round the outlet, that would take up some of the difference in size, then Jubilee clip it on, you could also use a heat gun on the pipe and it may help to shrink the pipe.

The Jabsco supplies sea water to the heat exchanger and currently it is fed via a filter from a shore supply tank during engine tuning. (The boat is on the hard).

The feed to the pump intake is plastic ring reinforced suction pipe. Despite two Jubilee clips, I cannot stop a weep from this joint. The mechanism of a Jubilee clip is such that there is a discontinuity of bore smoothness. The two clips are spaced 180° apart.

The hose reinforcing spiral may prevent compression.

Do I need a different clip or different hose?

I accept that, in the water, there will be near zero pressure at the intake but, currently, there is about 2 metres of head.

All help please.

Having read this again, I would point out that if you are feeding the engine cooling system (temporarily) from a raised tank, such that there is 2 metres of head, then depending on the design of your exhaust system, you may be creating a serious danger of flooding the engine with water. A damaged impeller, or some end clearance in the pump, could easily let water fill the the exhaust, and if its outlet is higher than the exhaust elbow, it could flood the engine. Why take the risk of the raised tank?

Self amalgamating tape to increase the spigot size? It may work but it's no substitute for the right hose size.

A heat gun will make the hose softer and more pliable not smaller. Heat gun is too hot for plastic hose, hair dryer is perfect. The problem with hot water is that once you pull the hose out of the hot water it starts to rapidly cool with surface evaporation and it's slippery to work with.
