Jabsco electric marine toilet

Purchased a new one 18 months ago to replace a non working one. worked up until 2 weeks ago found the impeller was broken so replaced and now it will not draw fresh water. Ive read somewhere that there should be a check valve in the line although no sure Y it worked for so long without one.
Anyone have any ideas

Mine was only letting a slow flow of water , i stripprd the solenoid valve to bits rebuilt worked perfect.

Ok I'm confused. What solenoid valve. I would only use a solenoid valve if the intake was under pressure. It's not it's suppose to draw the water from the lake.

Is the lake higher than the loo.

No the lake is about 18 inches lower
