Re: I\'ve won the Lottery!

I also have 270,000,000 Nigerian Naira waiting for me in a foreign bank account according to some guy called George AgdaAgdaGwengo.

Im too lazy to claim them myself but you are quite welcome to the money.

It is perfectly innocent sir. Perfectly innocent. They are waiting to wire you the monies.

Re: I\'ve won the Lottery!

That's funny, I win the that one quite often.

The clue is the yahoo email address.

I think even Camelot, the National Lottery operators, can afford a domain of their own.

You should read "Greetings in Jesus Name" - NOT a religious tract, but a hilarious account of "scambaiting" - getting the e-mail scammers back at their own game!

Do these idiots have nothing else to do? Its a CRAZY world!

They aren't doing nothing. They are working very hard trying to get Arthur to believe he has won the lottery, but before he can get his millions, he has to pay an administration charge. Apparently many people do pay up, so 'doing nothing' makes the scammers very rich.

On the Today Programme last week, they announced that the data protection people are to start a major campaign of awareness on these scams, although I believe that if some people actually read a newspaper occasionally, they would be a bit more streetwise. On the programme they mentioned that one man was on so many 'idiot' lists, he used his entire chequebook in one week.

A bit like the person (guess the gender and hair-colour!) who complained about the ITV gameshow phone-in scam, saying: "I've spent over a thousand quid, and never got through once. Now they say it was rigged: it makes me look like an idiot."

Unfortunately, the 'idiot' mentioned on the programme was a vulnerable old man.

Re: I\'ve won the Lottery!

I think we may have seen different news reports: this was a comment from a young blonde from Essex, on the local Anglia news. And the word "idiot" was her own, not mine.
