I'm not that enamoured of Lavacs and am somewhat surprised that some posters seem so keen on them. However in this case there is no question of fitting the pump in the tiny heads compartment of my small boat.

Nothing wrong with a Lavac, bog simple really (if you excuse the pun).
Minimum number of moving parts, easy to service, spares readily available and easy to unblock too.
Importantly it can be used as a bilge pump in an emergency.....

But if you are going to bucket-and-chuckit. Surely, you should have a red bucket for the purpose, so that its use is obvious, and it doesn't get used for the washing up!!!!
