I have today met my friend.
He says it could be a variety of things that cause malfunctioning. It needs to be looked at systematically to indentify exactly what is wrong and why. I will get you the help you need.

Ref the LED problems, have you checked the polarity, i.e. if you have a plug on the deck that the cable from the masthead light goes into, is it the right way round, - LED bulbs only work one way round, whereas ordinary bulbs don't care which is +ve or -ve.

A bit of basic fault finding:

Disconnect Light at base of mast
Turn on Light
Check for 12v on the plug with a multi meter.
Put 12v across the plug going up to the light (interpreting the results of metering across LED lights can be difficult)
As it is LED, you must observe correct polarity.

Another thought - As the problem is with two items, are they using a common 12v return wire?

Is there anything up your mast that does work? Did they all stop working at once or have you been accumulating these problems over time?

Without going up the mast you can start by checking the wires and switches at the bottom of the mast with a multimeter for continuity.

If it's an LED light bulb the meter will probably only show conductivity one way round, as the device is a diode.

Two things have occured to me here.
You say you checked at deck and had power, was that in the deck socket and have you checked the actual plugs on the ends of mast cables?
Have you changed, altered or renewed ant in mast halyards recently? which could result in possible damage, even cutting the cables inside mast.
